FDA shortens Moderna booster waiting period to 5 months for adults

Date:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reduced the Moderna booster waiting period by a month. The new waiting period is 5 months.

In the U.S, Moderna and Pfizer are the most used vaccines. The waiting period has been reduced because of the emergence of the omicron variant.

In the U.S, there is a new wave of Covid infections, with a seven-day average of more than 600,000 new cases daily. These numbers are very high, compared to previous weeks. Experts are of the view that shortening the waiting period between completion of a primary series and a booster dose may help increase immunity.
